EXERCISE 2

In this exercise you will be introduced to the software programs American Yellow Pages, MS Access and Streets Plus. First, you will take information from the AYP, create a database and import the information to be applied to Streets Plus. You will need to make a copy of both the database and the map you have created.

Part 1 AYP

Once all businesses are listed they will need to be exported. Part 2 Microsoft Access Now the information that you found in the AYP needs to imported to this table in order for it to be used in properly in Streets Plus. Now, in order for the information to be read correctly, a deliminated textfile must be created. Part 3 Street Plus

In this section, you will now import the table that you created in MS Access to this program in order to create a map that you will print.

Now you need to modify the information as it will appear in the map. At Data Preview, each field will have to be named in order to be displayed on your map. A screen will now appear asking if you want to check each entry, just click on Automatic at the bottom of the screen. This will automatically create your push pins.

Now that you have created the Pushpins to be placed on the map, you will want to view them.

You should now be looking at a screen of the entire United States. In order to zoom in on the pins, using your left mouse, create a box around the area of which they were created, and click inside the box. ( To create a box, holding down the left button of the mouse key, dragging it from the top left vertically to the bottom right, this will create the box.

Your push pins now should be visible!
